Our Team  

Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital teamOur skilled veterinary technicians perform a multitude of skills, including provision of a variety of nursing care and medical services for our patients. Additionally they provide information and education to our clients in numerous areas of pet care and assist in maintaining medical equipment.

Among their many duties, our boarding and daycare team provide fun and loving care for our pet guests and assist in keeping our boarding areas sanitary, comfortable, and clean.

From greeting our clients and patients and managing schedules to assisting with medical records and keeping our facilities clean, Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital and Pet Resort's client relations support team is the driving force working behind the scenes.  

Our entire team works hard to make sure you and your pet receive extraordinary care and hospitality.


Michelle Jenkins, Ph.D. - Executive Director and Veterinary Hospital Co-Owner

Dr. Michelle Jenkins is the spouse of Dr. Jeffrey Jenkins (Veterinarian) and co-owner of Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital and Pet Resort.  Dr. Michelle Jenkins holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology.  She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in neuroscience and clinical neuropsychology.  She has extensive business and management experience in the fields of human mental health and neuro-rehabilitation as well as veterinary practice management.  She has been involved in the practice management of Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital since 1999.  

Drs. Michelle and Jeff Jenkins have a daughter, Tara. They reside in the Ahwatukee Foothills with their four dogs and a cat.  Dr. Michelle is a retired clinical neuropsychologist and enjoys public speaking and leading seminars. She also likes spending time with her family, reading, writing nonfiction, going to the theatre and movies, photography, tennis, and traveling.


Stephanie Cox - Practice Manager

Stephanie joined the Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital and Pet Resort team with over 10 years of office management experience and over 15 years of volunteering at various animal shelters and rescues. She has a commitment to providing extraordinary service to our clients.  Her compassion and kindness shine through in all she does.    Stephanie has two Rottweiler puppies and a 12-year-old Pomeranian. She enjoys spending time with her close friends and family. She is a movie buff, loves knitting, and enjoys horseback riding and swimming.

Claudia DuPont - Receptionist/Client Relations Specialist

Claudia joined the Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital team in 2000.  She has worked in the veterinary field since 1997 and brings outstanding client relations experience, dedication, and excellence to our team. 

Claudia was born in Waco, Texas and grew up in Abilene, Texas.  She moved to Arizona in 2000.  Claudia is married and has two children.  Her family includes three dogs (a Dachshund, a Chihuahua, and a Boxer-Doberman mix), two cats, an African Gray parrot, and a Yellow Nape Amazon bird.

Claudia's smile, can-do attitude, and wealth of information are a positive addition to our team.

Cassie Gannas - Head Veterinary Technician  

Cassie graduated from Desert Vista High School in 2009 and attended Kaplin College to become a certified veterinary technician. She has been a stock car racer since age 10 years and she is one of the few female drivers on the southwest circuit. She has numerous wins to her credit. Cassie also enjoys spending time with her family,four dogs, cat, and her turtle, Franklin.


Rachel Ensz - Veterinary Technician

Rachel says that she has always wanted to work with animals since she was a small child. She is originally from California and worked as a veterinary oncology technician prior to moving to Phoenix. Rachel attends Arizona State University studying pre-veterinary medicine. She also volunteers at Wildhorse Ranch Rescue and does relief work at a veterinary emergency hospital. Rachel enjoys listening to music, collecting art, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with friends. She has a cat named Sir Oliver.

Kristy Schreck - Veterinary Technician

Kristy entered the veterinary field as a veterinary receptionist in 2005 and received her veterinary technician training that same year. She loves her work and especially enjoys being helping to be a "voice" for the pets she cares for. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family. Kristy also loves spoiling her five cats and two dogs.

Jeanneth- Veterinary Technician

Jeanneth graduated from AAEC High School in 2011. She graduated from the veterinary assistant/technician program at Carrington College in 2019. She loves to hike and enjoys taking her two dogs to play in the park.

Ann Marie Knapp - Receptionist/Client Relations Specialist

Ann Marie has extensive administrative and management experience in a variety of customer service related fields.  She is passionate about delivery of stellar customer service.  She is married and has five cats and two senior dogs who are living out their retirement years in the Ahwatukee Foothills.  Ann Marie is originally from New Jersey. She moved here from California in 2002.  Ann Marie enjoys finding treasures at flea markets, reading, traveling, attending the symphony, and going to movies while spending time with her husband and her church family.


Zabrina Shirley
 - Client Relations/Receptionist

Zabrina is from New Mexico. She moved to Phoenix in 2013. She has always worked with animals in a variety of ways, including on a farm, and in veterinary hospitals. She has two dogs. Sabrina enjoys traveling and family adventures.


Jerry Woodward - Boarding and Doggie Daycare Technician

Jerry has been a member of our animal caretaker team for our Doggie Day Care and Pet Boarding Resort.  Jerry moved to Arizona from Florida  in 2011 and joined our team shortly after arriving in the Valley of the Sun.  He brings a great sense of humor and a true love for animals to our boarding department.  Jerry enjoys the interactions he has with our boarding and day care pets and their owners.  He invites you to "stop by for a tour and let me show you where your four-legged family member will be well-cared for while you are away."


Alaina Jenish - Boarding Technician

Alaina has previously worked at several veterinary clinics and in medical research. She is currently attending nursing school. She has a cat and a dog. In her free time, Alaina enjoys dirt-biking and hiking.

 Tara Jenkins - Web/Social Media Technician

Tara, the daughter of Drs. Michelle and Jeff Jenkins (owners of AACH), has grown up visiting, volunteering, and working part-time in both boarding and as a receptionist at Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital. She is a great communications/film and photography/computer technology asset and helps keep us up to date with our website and social media.  Additionally, she is always willing to lend a hand helping to feed and exercise our pet boarding guests when she is available. She truly loves animals and brings a happy, positive, fun spirit to the hospital.  Tara is an honors student in college double majoring in theatre and media production and creative writing with an emphasis on screenwriting.  She enjoys acting, directing, writing, filming, singing, piano, tennis, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.  Tara has four dogs and a cat.
